It's been a month, but I had to throw out some info on the
absolute awesome that was GNWLAN 10/WeddingLAN. GNWLAN is always a fun
event with it's moderate size, fun activities, awesome staff, fantastic
sponsors, great charity events, and friendly atmosphere. This LAN was
special to myself and Kate "iGetzPants" Wilson because it was also
our wedding!
Originally my vision of having a wedding at a GNWLAN event
was to have the ceremony outside, on the river, with a sunset in the
background. It would be picturesque
without disrupting the LAN itself and yet it was only about 300ft from the LAN,
therefore all attendees would be invited!
It was very important to me that we not disrupt the events that Ryan “Havok”
Headrick had planned and to not hijack his entire event. Unfortunately, mother nature had other plans
for us. Three separate storm fronts moved
in back to back dumping almost an inch of rain and with 39mph winds. Getting married outside was no longer an
option and Kate was getting a bit frantic by 1:30am Saturday morning.
It was Havok to the rescue!
Ryan, his wife, and all of the GNWLAN staff setup a ceremony for us in
the LAN itself and it was decided that we would have two ceremonies: One for
LAN attendees and a second at our reception site for family. Brad Hutchison of the GNWLAN staff did our
photography for both events and Shannon “Mrs. Cake” Motter officiated both
ceremonies. We were blessed with an
absolutely awesome wedding thanks to our wonderful friends. They literally made things come together that
we thought were in danger of failing.
Along with
the wedding, GNWLAN also ran a charity raffle for the V foundation for Cancer
Research! Along with all of this there were some great games to be
played! If you are ever in the mood to go to a LAN event, you should
definitely put GNWLAN on your short list of must go to events.
I also want to say that it meant a very great deal to me, personally, that founding members of the PDX Murderous Moppets were in attendance for our wedding. Thank you! And thank you to Jeff “Dgephri” Kaiser for being such a great best man! It was a real joy to see you all there on our special day! Thank you so very much.
